How sessions work: by video, or in person in Adelaide
For years my clients came to see me in Adelaide. Then more and more asked if we could meet on screen instead. Now I see clients by video anywhere in Australia, or in person in Adelaide by arrangement.

Why most of my sessions now happen by video
Most of my sessions now happen by video, because it lets me help people far from Adelaide and many clients find it easier to relax at home.
I started The Hypno Coach in Adelaide in 2012. Back then, every client sat in the chair across from me. Over time I noticed something. People who tried video often told me how comfortable they felt in their own space.
Video also meant I could help people who lived far away. Today I see adults all over Australia this way. If you live in or near Adelaide and want to meet in person, just ask and we’ll arrange it.

Two ways to meet: video anywhere, or in person in Adelaide
You can see me by video anywhere in Australia, or in person in Adelaide by arrangement.
- By video, anywhere in Australia. We meet on Google Meet. You stay at home, and there’s no drive or parking to worry about.
- In person, in Adelaide, by arrangement. If you’d rather sit in the same room, raise it on the free call. We then book a time that suits us both.
The price is the same either way, and so is the work. It’s always me you see, from the first call to the last session.
What happens in a hypnotherapy session with Ernest
Every session has the same shape: a chat, then hypnosis, then a short talk about what you noticed.
First we chat. You tell me how things have been and what you’d like to focus on. Then I guide you into hypnosis. You lean back, shut your eyes and listen to my voice. You feel calm and focused. You can still hear everything, and you can open your eyes at any time.
At the end I bring you back to full alertness. We talk about what you noticed. I’ll suggest something small to practise during the week. You’ll also get an audio recording to play at home.
- Book a free call
Tell me if mornings, afternoons, evenings or any time works best for you. I’ll phone within 24 hours. In 15 minutes I’ll tell you if I think I can help. You can also ask me anything about hypnosis, like what it feels like or whether you stay in control.
- Choose your program
Many issues fit four sessions. Some need a longer plan, which we shape together in your first session. You’ll know the full cost up front.
- Meet by video or in Adelaide
For video, I send a link and you tap it at our set time. For Adelaide, we agree on a time and place. Between sessions you play your recording and use the simple self-hypnosis I teach you.
What you need for a video session
You need a device with a camera, good internet, headphones and a quiet, private spot.
- A device with a camera. A laptop or tablet is ideal, though a phone will do.
- Good internet. Your home wifi or decent mobile reception is enough.
- Earbuds or headphones, so my voice is clear and outside noise drops away.
- A private spot where nobody will barge in during the session.
- Somewhere soft to recline, like a couch or a comfy armchair.
Before we start, silence your phone and shut the door. Let others at home know you need some quiet. I’ll send you a Google Meet link ahead of time. On a computer it opens in your web browser, with nothing to download. On a phone or tablet, grab the free Google Meet app.
What happens if the video connection drops
I phone you straight away and we carry on. Before we begin, we agree on a backup, usually your phone number. Dropouts happen now and then, so it pays to plan. If it happens during hypnosis, you’ll just drift back to normal alertness, much like waking from a daydream.
How your privacy is kept safe on video
What we discuss stays with me, and I wear headphones so no one near me can hear you. I also work with the door shut. On your end, a shut door and earbuds go a long way. Some clients sit in their parked car if the house is busy.
There is one limit, the same for any practitioner. If I believed you or another person faced serious harm, I would need to act. I explain this on our first call. I never record a session unless you agree in writing. Your notes are kept safe and secure.
Is video as good as meeting in person?
Video suits many people, because hypnosis relies on your focus and our work together, not on the room. A screen doesn’t get in the way of either. You hear me, I watch how you’re going, and we change course when we need to.
To be honest, there isn’t much research yet that compares video sessions with in-room sessions head to head. So I won’t give you a figure. What I see is that many people find it easier to let go on their own couch. For someone who struggles to leave the house, or who has no spare time, that can make all the difference.
If video doesn’t feel right, let me know. We can try a different setup. If you’re near Adelaide, we can switch to meeting in person.

Booking from another time zone
I work on Adelaide time, but I book your call and sessions in your own local time. Clients in Perth, Brisbane, Hobart or Darwin don’t need to do any maths. When you book, choose a part of the day in your own time. I’ll call you then, and we’ll set session times in your local time as well.
What sessions cost, by video or in Adelaide
Prices are the same by video or in Adelaide. A single session is $300. A 4-session program costs $1,000 in total if paid upfront ($250 each), or $1,200 if you pay as you go. Quitting smoking or vaping is $590 in total. You can pay by card or bank transfer. All prices are in AUD with no GST. Medicare doesn’t cover hypnotherapy, and you don’t need a GP referral. Questions about video and Adelaide sessions
Sessions run on Google Meet, and here are four quick answers people often want first.
Could I lose control on a video call?
No. You stay aware, you’ll remember what we did, and you can open your eyes whenever you like. You’re always the one in charge.
Can I see you in person instead?
Yes, in Adelaide, by arrangement. Mention it on the free call and we’ll book a time that suits us both.
Is it OK to join from work or my car?
A private room at home is ideal. A parked car is fine if home is too busy. Never join while you’re driving, and skip open-plan offices where someone could walk up.
I’m not good with computers. Is that a problem?
Not at all. If you can tap a link in a text or email, you can join. We can do a quick test run first if that helps.
