Why anxiety and stress feel so physical

Anxiety and stress start in your body’s alarm system, which reacts faster than your thinking mind. I’ve seen this pattern in Adelaide clients since 2012. Your body reacts in a split second. Logic shows up later, a bit out of breath. That’s why you can tell yourself “I’m fine” and still feel your heart thump.

Hypnosis lets us talk to that fast, automatic part. You stay awake, calm and aware. Together we walk through the moments that set you off, and you practise a steadier reaction until it starts to happen by itself.

Depending on what you need, I may also use Rewind, a gentle way to take the sting out of upsetting memories. Or Time Line Therapy and NLP, which help you look at old patterns from a calmer distance. I’ll always explain what we’re doing and why.

I believe challenges can be overcome. Not always quickly, and not always alone. But many people are stronger than their anxiety tells them.

Anxiety and stress hypnotherapy pages: which one fits?

There are seven pages here, one for each kind of worry or stress I work with. Each explains the approach, the research and the price.

Not sure which fits? That’s fine. Many people have a mix. Pick the closest, or simply tell me on the phone what’s been happening. For an overview of everything I help with, see the Hypno Coach home page.

How anxiety hypnotherapy works: by video or in Adelaide

It starts with a free 15-minute phone call, then sessions on Google Meet or in person in Adelaide by arrangement.

  1. Book your free call

Fifteen minutes on the phone. You tell me what’s been happening. I tell you straight if I think I can help. Nothing to sign, nothing to buy. You can also ask me anything about hypnosis, like what it feels like or whether you stay in control.

  2. Our first proper session

By video from home, or in person in Adelaide by arrangement. We look at what triggers you, what you’ve tried, and what you want life to feel like. For anxiety, health anxiety, panic and burnout, this is where we draw up your plan. For the other areas, it’s session one of four.

  3. Follow-up sessions, and a recording for home

Each one is a short chat, then hypnosis in a chair, eyes closed. You take a recording home to play between visits, and I teach you a simple self-hypnosis routine.

Hypnosis needs your attention, not my physical presence. So a video session from your lounge room works well, and there’s no drive home afterwards.

Questions about anxiety and stress hypnotherapy in Adelaide

Here are five questions I’m often asked on the free call, with straight answers.

Can hypnotherapy help with anxiety and stress?

It can help many people feel calmer and react less strongly. I can’t promise a result, and I won’t. Each page above has a section on what the research says, with links.

Hypnotherapy works best as one part of your support. Keep seeing your GP or psychologist if you have one.

Is it covered by Medicare?

It isn’t covered by Medicare. You don’t need a GP referral to book. Some health fund extras cover hypnotherapy, so check with your fund.

Is a video session as good as seeing you in Adelaide?

Hypnosis needs your attention, not a shared room. So video works well for many people, from anywhere in Australia.

If you live in Adelaide and want to meet face to face, we can arrange that. We’ll decide together on the free call.

Will I lose control in hypnosis?

No. You stay awake and aware the whole time. You hear everything, and you can stop whenever you like.

It feels like deep, focused relaxation. You won’t do or say anything you don’t want to.

Is it a treatment plan or a four-session program?

It depends on the issue. Anxiety, health anxiety, panic attacks, and stress and burnout use a treatment plan of usually 6 to 12 sessions.

Social anxiety, exam nerves and public speaking use the four-session program. I’ll tell you which fits before you pay anything.
